R.E. Miner Insurance Agency Limited was formed on July 11, 1970 with Ruth E. Miner and Robert E. Miner as the principal shareholders purchasing a locally run agency from Frank Buchanan. In 1981 the Superintendent of Insurance decreed that all insurance agencies representing more than one insurance company must be known as a broker hence the name change to REM Insurance o/b R.E. Miner Insurance Brokers Limited. Together, Ruth and Bob worked hard to grow their business into the operation it is today. Daughter Jill joined REM Insurance as a broker in the fall of 1981 after receiving her college diploma in Business Administration from St. Clair College. Robert (better known as Bob) passed away suddenly on August 15, 2009 but you will still find Ruth working in the office on a daily basis. As business grew so did the staff with Lisa and Tracey starting in 1993.
